During a Meta Company companywide meeting, one of their executive officers introduced their next project, the app that they would release as an alternative to Twitter social media.

Based on Instagram, this new standalone app will be coupled with ActivityPub, a decentralized social media network. Users of this new app will be able to migrate their accounts and followers to other apps that support ActivityPub and Mastodon using this feature.

Mr. Chris Cox, Meta's Chief Product Officer, claimed that this new app is ready for release in Meta's reaction to Twitter. The internal codename here is "Project 92," and according to the cited information, the name of this new software will most likely be Threads.

He also added that the development work for this new app began in January, and Meta Company is eager to publish it as soon as feasible.
